The Kindness of the LORD
Isaiah 54:10
For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
God is Good
Most of us have heard the modern expression “God is good, all the time.” The Scriptures tends to support the truth of that statement. This verse says that His kindness shall not depart from us, no matter what happens.
Is this true for everyone? No. It is not a general statement made to everyone on the planet. He is speaking to those who love Him, those who follow Him, those who live their lives for Him. To those people He says that His kindness shall not depart, and His peace shall not be removed, and His mercy shall not be taken away.
What is mercy?
Mercy is goodness and kindness given to someone who doesn’t deserve it. We are debtors to His mercy and kindness. We do not deserve His mercy and grace and kindness. So stop trying so hard to earn it. It’s the gift He gives to those who believe upon Him, to those who love Him. Let's focus on believing Him and loving Him. That's what pleases Him.
Draw near to Him today in prayer and the giving of thanks, and spend some time pondering His promises that are given to those who love Him. God is good, all the time.
