The Lord is My Shepherd
Psalm 23:1-2
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
God is My Shepherd
Jesus said of Himself in John 10:11 that “I am the good shepherd .” A shepherd is one who watches over, protects, provides for, and leads a flock of sheep or other animals. The Bible tells us in Psalm 100:3 “Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
I Shall Not Want
David, in Psalm 23, says that the Lord is my shepherd, and I shall not lack anything. The Bible tells us that God will withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly. David goes on to write that the LORD, my shepherd, makes me to lie down in green pastures, not dried-up depleted pastures, but green, lush pastures, and He leads me beside the still waters of quietness and peace.
Green Pastures Meaning
These things are written that we too can be led in our lives by the Good Shepherd, to have no lack, to lie down and rest in lush pastures of abundant provision, and live beside the still waters of quietness and rest. And He has given us the sixty-six green pastures of His word to feed upon.
Call out to the Good Shepherd today, and let Him lead you in every path of your life.
