Perfect Peace
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
The Peace of God
How wonderful it would be to always be in perfect peace. That may sound like a far-fetched notion, in this sometimes chaotic and unpredictable world. Yet the Bible tells us that the Lord will keep in perfect peace the person whose mind in fixed on Him. And it also tells us why perfect peace is upon that person, because he trusts in the Lord.
Whose Mind is Stayed
How does one develop the ability to trust the Lord in every situation? The word translated as the phrase “stayed upon” in this passage means to lean against, or to rest upon. The person who trusts the Lord is the person who leans against or rests upon Him.
Lean on His Word
How is that accomplished? The quickest way is to find the promise of God that addresses the situation one may be in, and then taking time to look at it, to think about it, to ponder it, and then to release faith in it by believing it.
Because He Trusts
Believing is a decision. But believing is easier when the mind is focused on the promise that God has given in His word. The one who fixes his mind and heart on the promises of God will ultimately, at some point, begin to put trust in God, and that trust will keep him in a state of unshakable peace.
