He Shall Sustain You

Psalm 55:22
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Cast Your Cares

The New Testament admonishes us to cast all our cares upon Him, for He cares for us. This verse in Psalm 55 echoes the same sentiment. Cast your burden, that which is weighing you down, upon the LORD, and He will feed and nourish and sustain you.

How Do You Cast Your Burden?

Casting your burden upon Him involves taking it to the LORD in prayer and giving the burden to Him. When we do that, we are giving Him permission to do something with it and about it. If we keep it to ourselves, we are holding it from Him. After we give it to Him in prayer, we refuse to worry about it anymore. We reject fear and every anxious thought that comes. Does that takes trust? Yes. Does that take faith in Him? Yes. But without faith it is impossible to please Him.

The Righteous Will Not Be Moved

The ones who believe in His word, His promises, and put their trust and faith in Him are the ones He calls "the righteous." And the verse goes on to say that He will never allow the righteous to be made to slip or to be moved, that is, to be carried away by their circumstances.

Cast your burden upon him today. You were not meant to carry it yourself, but rather to give it to Him, the One Who is able to do far above anything we can ask or even think.
