In You Do I Trust
Psalm 143:8
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Trusting the LORD
The theme of trust in the LORD is a recurring theme throughout the Scriptures. The benefits of trusting God are many. To develop trust in the LORD is something that all believers should aspire to, and develop an understanding of how to put one’s trust in Him.
The psalmist says to cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; because I trust in You. If we are trusting in Him, then His lovingkindness will be showing up in our lives. But, very often, we must fight our way through doubt and fear and uncertainty to come to a place of trust, a condition of inner assurance that God is going to come through for us.
Inner Guidance
The psalmist goes on to say, “. . . cause me to know the way wherein I should walk;” Receiving guidance and direction from the LORD is part of trusting Him. When our hearts are clear from worry and concern, it is easier to know the way that we should go, and what the LORD would have us do.
Letting Go of Worry
The most difficult part of trusting God, in fact, is the letting go of worry and concern. That is the thing that stands between us and our having a trusting heart, full of faith. It is just easy for human nature to worry and fret over things.
Search His Promises
But trust is built on the promises of God. Without a promise, it’s impossible to believe God and trust Him. After all, what would we be believing and trusting in, if not His promises?
Find His promises today for your situation. He has a promise to cover every need. Hear the promises of His word. Take them to yourself as your very own, personal promises from the LORD to you. Roll your cares over to Him. And then stand against the temptation to worry and fret about it anymore. Trust will begin to rise in your heart, and fear, doubt, and worry will leave.
