Believe That You Receive
Mark 11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Receiving From God
This verse has to do with prayer and receiving from God. Jesus, the Master Himself, tells us that no matter what we are asking for, that we should believe we receive it when we pray, and we shall have it
Faith is of the Heart
There are several keys to understanding this verse and taking advantage of the truth contained in it. Firstly, we must understand that faith is of the heart.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
We must believe the word of God, the promises of God, with our heart. Our head, our rational mind, our intellect, is often unable to agree with and understand God’s promises. For example, it’s difficult for the natural mind to understand how a man dying on a cross two thousand years ago can pay the price for our sins today. Yet, when we believe that with our heart, and confess Jesus as our LORD, we receive the forgiveness that God promises.
So, we must believe God’s promises with our heart, even though there may be doubt in our head.
And You Shall Have Them
Secondly, when the verse says “and ye shall have them”, it does not say that you shall have them immediately. Our having the thing we’re asking for is in God’s hands. It may take a little bit of time. Our part is to believe in our heart that we receive what we are asking for, based on His promise. And we keep on believing, until the LORD gets the answer to us.
The Promises of God
Thirdly, or maybe this should be the first key, base your prayer on what God has promised, the promises of His word. That is the only thing that the LORD is obligated to answer, the things He has promised in His word. He honors His word above His name.
Believe you receive today. Find the promise of God, pray your request based on that promise, believe you receive the answer when you pray, and continue to believe it’s yours until the answer comes. Through faith and patience inherit the promise, for He is faithful Who promised.
