The Wisdom from Above
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17 KJV)
Every day we are faced with decisions that require wisdom. The world offers many opinions, but God's wisdom is altogether different. James describes a wisdom that reflects the very character of God.
Notice the qualities of heavenly wisdom. It is pure in its motives, peaceable in its spirit, gentle in its dealings with others, and full of mercy. It seeks to build up rather than tear down. It produces good fruit because it comes from the Lord.
God has promised to give wisdom to those who ask Him in faith. The prayer for wisdom is a prayer in which He promises to give us an answer. As we seek His direction through prayer and His Word, He faithfully guides our steps. His wisdom protects us from many unnecessary mistakes and leads us in the paths of righteousness.
The Bible says that unto the upright there arises light in the darkness. If you need wisdom today, do not rely upon your own understanding. Ask the Lord to direct your thoughts and decisions. Ask Him for wisdom about your specific situation. And listen for His instruction and guidance. The wisdom that comes from above will never lead you astray.
