Give Thanks Always
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; (Ephesians 5:20 KJV)
Thanksgiving is more than an occasional expression of gratitude. It is a way of life for those who know the Lord. Paul encourages us to give thanks always, developing a heart that continually recognizes God's goodness and faithfulness.
Giving thanks does not mean we are thankful for every difficult circumstance. Rather, we are thankful that God is with us in every circumstance and is working all things together for our good. When we cast our cares to Him in prayer, we can be confident He is working on our behalf to help us in every situation, and we can be thankful.
A thankful heart guards us against discouragement and unbelief. Instead of dwelling upon what is lacking, gratitude reminds us of all that God has already done. It shifts our attention from our problems to His promises, because we know He is faithful to keep every promise He has made in His Word.
As you go through this day, look for all the things you have to thank the Lord for. The more you recognize His goodness, and the more you recognize what He has already done, the more your heart will be filled with joy, peace, and confidence in His faithfulness. And the more you will open the door for continued blessing in your life.
