The LORD is My Strength
Psalm 28:6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 28:8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
I Will Bless the LORD
In this Psalm of David, the focus is once again on blessing the LORD, and giving Him thanks and praise for His goodness and for the great benefits that flow from Him.
David says that he blesses the LORD, because God has heard his prayers. Have you ever had an answered prayer? Isn’t it an amazing thing that the God of the earth and universe hears us when we call upon Him, and answers. That’s one good reason to bless Him.
Trust in the LORD
He goes on to say that “my heart trusted in him, and I am helped.” The LORD sends help to those who release their trust in Him. When we give it over to Him in trust, He comes to our aid. As the result of that, David says that his heart rejoiced, and with a song he praised Him. Singing is the natural response to the blessing of the LORD, and it’s one of the main ways of giving thanks to Him.
His Saving Strength
David continues by saying that the LORD is their strength, and He is their saving strength. Who is He strength to? To whom is He their saving strength? To those who call upon Him in time of need, those who put their trust in Him above all else, those who give Him thanks and praise for what He has done.
Take time today to rejoice in all He has done for you in blessing your life. He is a friend Who sticks closer than a brother, and He is ever ready to give grace to help in time of need.
