Praise Him for His Goodness
Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Psalm 107:9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
God is Good
Things would be different in this earth is men would praise the LORD and give Him thanks for His goodness, His mercy, His kindness, and His love. God is good, contrary to what many people seem to believe. The Bible says that every good and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. But people cut themselves off from the goodness of the LORD by, first of all, being slow to come to Him or even believe He exists, and then being slow to thank Him for His goodness.
We Have Our Part
The Bible says that He who comes to God must believe that He is, or, that is, that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. We have our part to play in receiving the benefits of His goodness. The Bible says that all things work together for good for those who love the LORD, not for everybody, but for those who love Him. Giving thanks and praise is part of loving Him.
Satisfied and Filled
This passage says that the LORD satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul. Yet many, even believers, are not in a condition of satisfaction, or in a condition of being filled. Could there be a connection between the praise and thanksgiving of verse 8 and the satisfaction and filling of verse 9? Yes. Developing a heart of praise and thanksgiving precedes the realization of His satisfaction and filling in our lives.
Take time today to thank the LORD for His goodness, and for all the wonderful things He has done in your life. Has He preserved you? Has He provided for you? Has He made a way for you? Being thankful for what He has done will open the door for Him to do more.
