A Table Before Me
Psalm 23:5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Personal Provision
This is from the Shepherd Psalm, Psalm 23. The first verse says of the Psalm that the LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not lack anything. In verse 5 David, the writer of this Psalm, continues that thought and says that You, my Shepherd, set and arrange a private and personal table just for me in the presence of the faces of my enemies. The blessing of the LORD can be easily seen upon a person’s life. And even a man’s enemies, though they see it, cannot stop it from showing up in the life of the one who has made the LORD his or her Shepherd.
Success in Life
You anoint my head with oil. The word “anoint” in this verse comes from a Hebrew word that means to make fat, or to make prosperous. The LORD anoints us with the power and ability to prosper and have success in life. Another verse in the Bible says that it is the LORD Who gives us the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant. It is God's desire for us to prosper and have good success in all that we set our hands to.
Overflow of Supply
What is the result of this anointing to prosper? My cup runs over, I have more than enough, I live in abundant provision, I live in an overflow of supply in every area. The Bible tells us that God shall supply all of our needs, according to His riches in glory, by Christ Jesus. By Christ Jesus, the One Who is the LORD our Shepherd. The Shepherd provides. And, according to the Psalm, I shall not lack anything.
Look to Him as your Shepherd today. A Shepherd leads, A Shepherd feeds. A Shepherd protects and guards. The Bible says the we, as believers in Christ, are no longer gone astray, but have returned to the Shepherd of our souls. Lay hold of His guidance, provision, and protection today, by putting your faith and trust in Him.
