Through Faith and Patience
Hebrews 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Hebrews 6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
Hebrews 6:14 Saying, surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
Hebrews 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Inheriting the Promise
It is not just by faith that the promises of God become reality in our lives. There is another ingredient, patience, which is also translated in other places in the Bible as endurance, constancy, steadfastness, and perseverance.
The Stand of Faith
Staying steady and sticking with the program can be the hardest part of believing God and having faith in the promises of His word. God made a promise to Abraham and even swore to it that He would bless and multiply him. But Abraham had to patiently endure over a period of time before he obtained the promise. The Bible tells us that Abraham staggered not at the promise of God, but was strong in faith.
Renew Your Confidence
Faith is the condition of our heart during the time that we don’t see the promise fulfilled in our lives yet. We have believed God’s promise, and even rejoiced in our heart over it, and we believed we received it when we prayed, but it hasn’t arrived in our lives yet. That’s where Hebrews 10:35-36 comes into play.
Hebrews 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Let Patience Work
The Bible tells us not to cast away our confidence in His word of promise, but to be patient, to endure in faith, to hold steadfast in believing, so that, after you have stood strong in the will of God, you would receive the promise as a reality in your life.
Renew your faith again today. Let your heart once again rejoice in the promise of God. Refuse to doubt. Refuse to fear, but let there be joy and peace in your believing. If you have thrown away your confidence, then rekindle it. He is faithful Who has promised, and through faith and patience, the promise will come to pass.
