Walk in His Peace
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Peace with God
The subject of God’s peace, or that peace of God, is a rather broad encompassing subject. When we speak of the peace that Jesus left to those who believe upon Him covers several areas.
The Bible tells us that we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus reconciled us to God through His blood. There is no longer hostility, or enmity, between God and man, but peace has been made through Christ.
His Peace Will Keep Us
Paul the Apostle exhorts us to make our prayer requests to God, with thanksgiving, and that the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep and guard and protect our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. So then, we have access to peace in Christ that protects us from anxiety and worry, if we choose to walk in it.
Peace That Guides Us
We have, as believers, have an inner peace that guides us. Paul again exhorts us to let the peace of God rule and reign in our hearts, to which we were called, and be thankful. It’s interesting that, in this case as well as in the previous paragraph, the peace we receive is connected to the giving of thanks.
Refuse to Fear
In John 14:27, Jesus tells His disciples to not let their hearts be troubles, and neither let it be afraid. Part of walking in the Lord’s peace is in refusing to allow the heart to be troubled or afraid. We have our part in apprehending His peace for our lives.
Take a stand against fear and worry today. The Bible says that we are called to peace. Lay claim to the peace that is provided to us in Christ, and refuse to accept fear and worry into your heart. And the peace of God, which is beyond our understanding, will take its place, and guard our hearts in God’s peace.
