Wait Upon the LORD

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:31 KJV)

Waiting is seldom easy. We naturally want answers today, solutions today, and help from God right now. Yet God often accomplishes some of His greatest work in our hearts as we wait upon Him.

Waiting upon the Lord does not mean doing nothing. It means looking to Him with confidence, and expecting Him to work on our behalf. While we wait, He strengthens our faith, deepens our trust, and gives us the great opportunity of exercising patience.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
(James 1:4 KJV)

Things we receive from God are received by faith and patience. Sometimes they do not take place in a moment of time. Often a series of things must happen first. That takes time. That requires trusting God and waiting patiently.

God promises that those who wait upon Him will be renewed in strength. He does not say they will never grow weary, but that He will continually supply them with the strength they need.

If you are in a season of waiting, do not lose heart. Receive fresh strength. Continue trusting the Lord. Give your cares to HIm and leave them there. At the right time, He will get the job done, and you will discover that His timing is always the best.
