He Directs Our Paths

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
(Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)

One of the greatest questions we face in life on a daily basis is, "What should I do?" What is God's will in my situation? We want to know God's direction, especially when important decisions are at stake. These verses remind us that God's guidance starts with trusting Him.

It is natural to depend on our own understanding. We evaluate situations according to what we can see and think through. But God's wisdom reaches far beyond our limited reasoning. He sees every detail of the path ahead and knows exactly where He is leading us. The Bible tells us that He sees the end from the beginning.

Notice that we are told to acknowledge Him "in all thy ways." God is interested in every part of our lives, not just the major decisions, not just the problems we face. As we seek His wisdom in both the large and the small matters, He will direct our steps.

If you need direction today, begin by placing your trust in the Lord rather than in your own understanding. Ask HIm to lead you. Wait for Him to instruct you on what to do. The Shepherd who knows the way will never lead us wrong.
