Cast Thy Burden Upon the LORD

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
(Psalm 55:22 KJV)

Life has a way of placing burdens upon us. We carry concerns about our families, our health, our finances, and uncertainty about the future. We were never intended to carry those burdens ourselves. Instead, the Lord invites us to cast them upon Him.

To cast our burdens upon the Lord is to deliberately place them into His hands and leave them with Him. It is an act of faith that says, "Lord, this is too heavy for me, and I give it to You." The problem may be too heavy to us, but it is never beyond God's ability to handle.

Notice that the Lord does not merely promise to carry our burdens for us. He also promises to sustain us with His own peace that passes all understanding.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 KJV)

God will give us peace while we're walking through difficult situations. His grace is always more than enough.

Whatever difficult thing you're carrying today, place it upon the Lord in prayer and trust Him to sustain you. Give it to Him and refuse to have another anxious thought about it. The God who cares for you affectionately is more than willing to carry that load for you, all the while working in your behalf to help resolve it.
