Commit Thy Way

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass
(Psalm 37:5 KJV)

Life is filled with decisions. Some are small and not of great significance, while others shape the course of our future. We sometimes find ourselves wondering what to do, which direction to take, uncertain about how things will work out. For those moments, God gives us this simple instruction: "Commit thy way unto the LORD."

To commit our way to the Lord means more than just asking Him to bless our efforts. It means placing our plans into His hands and trusting Him to direct our steps. Instead of carrying every burden ourselves, we can deliberately surrender our future to the One who sees the end from the beginning.

Commit and Trust

Notice that David connects commitment with trust. It is one thing to give something to God. It is another thing to trust Him and leave it with Him. Genuine trust refuses to take back those things it has placed in God's hands. Faith then rests confidently in His ability to work on our behalf to make things work out to our benefit.

The promise is substantial: "He shall bring it to pass." God is fully able to accomplish what we need in our lives when we make the choice to trust Him. We may not know how He will work it out, but we can be assured in our heart that He is already working.

Today, commit every concern of your life to the Lord. Take it to Him in prayer. Tell Him the burdens you're giving Him. Place your plans, your concerns, and your future into His hands, and trust Him to accomplish what only He can do.
