Walk by Faith

For we walk by faith, not by sight: (2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV)

We naturally tend to judge our circumstances by what we can see going on around us. If everything looks good, we feel confident. If problems appear, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty can quickly take over.

But the Christian life was never intended to be lived by what we see. Paul tells us that "we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV) We walk by faith in God's pomises to us.

Walking by faith means allowing what God has said in His Word to have greater sway over us than what our circumstances are telling us. We believe His promises before we see them fulfilled. We trust His goodness when we don't understand exactly what's going on. And we continue to follow His leading even when we don't see very far down the road ahead.

Faith does not deny that problems exist. It simply recognizes that God is greater than the problems we face and that He has promised to help us.

You may not be able to see how everything is going to work out today. You don't need to. Keep your eyes upon the Lord and continue taking the next step He places before you.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105 KJV)

We do not need to see the entire path when we trust the One who is leading us. We move forward one step at a time, one day at a time, in faith and trust.
