Ask in Faith
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. (James 1:6 KJV)
God invites us to come to Him with our needs, our questions, and our requests. But when we pray, He wants us to come to Him believing He hears us and is faithful to respond.
James tells us to "ask in faith, nothing wavering." Faith does not mean that we understand exactly how God will answer. It means that our confidence rests steady in Him even when we cannot see what He is doing.
Sometimes we allow circumstances to determine what we believe. When things look favorable, our faith is strong. When circumstances change, doubt creeps in. But genuine faith rests on something far more dependable than circumstances or feelings. It rests upon God's character and His promises.
God's promises work in the heart of a person, where faith lives. Mark 11:23 tells us that when we believe and do not doubt in our heart, we have the things we desire from God. Doubts may come into our minds, but we can keep them out of our hearts by holding God's promises firm in our hearts.
How do you do that? You find God's promise and read it. You speak it over yourself. You let your heart relax and rest in the promise. This restores faith to the heart and removes doubt.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24 KJV)
Believe that God hears and answers while you're praying, and the result will come later.
When you pray today, refuse to let what you see become greater than what God has said. Bring your requests to Him with confidence. You may not know how or when the answer will come, but you can trust the One you are praying to.
Ask in faith, keep your heart on His promises, and leave the answer in His hands.
